numerous eco-paths in the vicinity are suitable for biking and the small rivers will please lovers of fishing. The
surrounding forests abounding in game are a true paradise for hunters in the hunting season. Lovers of nature may also visit
the natural reserve `Kalinata`, remarkable with its unique plant variety. The village is also famous for the huge interest of
foreign tourists and investors. The property offers a rare combination of important advantages and affords great
opportunities for further development.
Area Description: The Municipality of Nessebar is situated it the north parts of
the Bourgas Black Sea Coast. It comprises 14 settlements - the towns of Nessebar, Obzor and St.Vlas, the villages of Ravda,
Tankovo, Banya, Priseltsi, Kosharite, Gyolyovtsa, Orizare, Panitsovo, Rakovskovo, Emona and Koznitsa, the villa settlement
Elenite and the resort Sunny Beach. The lovely natural and weather conditions, including high average annual temperatures
(12,3`C) and wide golden beaches, determine the primary significance of tourism in the area. The administrative centre is the
town of Nessebar, which lies on a small peninsular, 37 km. north-east of Bourgas. It is a successor of a Thracian fishermen s
settlement named Menabryia, founded in the 2nd century BC. Later it was named Messembria and developed into a big, well-
fortified town and a popular commercial centre. Nowadays, Nessebar is one of the most favourite resorts, included in the
World Heritage List of UNESCO because of its unique ancient spirit and well-preserved cultural and historic richness. Legends
tell that Nessebar had over 41 chirches, which makes the town one of the world s settlements with the highest number of
churches per capita. One of the the most impressive churches in Nessebar is the Old Bishop s Residence located in the centre
of the town. The St. Stefan Church or the so-called New Bishop s Residence, situated in the vicinity of the harbour, has a
picturesque decoration that had marked the beginning of a typical local style, seen in the construction of churches of later
times. The same style was followed in the construction of St. Todor Church. The St. John Aliturgetos Church is considered to
be the most beautiful one. During the centuries different fortifications against hostile invasion were built. After their
restoration the remains of the fortress walls became the most imposing monument, which welcomes the guests of The Old
Nessebar. Those who are interested in ancient ruins may also visit the Early-Byzantine Terms, situated in the lowest part of
the western coast of the peninsular. About 2/3 of the area of the Terms are explored - entrance, central hall and warm
premises with pools. The other part is under a modern building. The unique picturesque appearance of the town is mostly due
to the numerous wooden houses built in the time of the National Bulgarian Revival. Their original architecture reveals the
development of the typical Black Sea coast house - their shapes feature a light upper wooden floor, contrasting to the stone
-built ground floor. Constructed close to one another, the houses form narrow twisting streets that unexpectedly lead to the
seacoast. Of particular interest is the house of Panayot Moskoyani, which hosts an ethnographic exhibition, called `Folk
costumes and textiles from Burgas region`. It presents a wide variety of fabrics, costumes and accessories like necklaces,
front adornments, belts, rings, bracelets. The water mill complements the special atmosphere and romantic flavour of the
landscape of Nessebur. Plenty of exponents, representing the rich economic, cultural and spiritual life of the town, are
exhibited in the four halls of the Archeological Museum. The collections of significant cultural monuments illustrates the
history of ancient Messambria and medieval Nessebur. The UNESCO Diploma, certifying the Ancient Nessebar`s registration on
the World Cultural Heritage List in 1983, can be seen in the foyer. One of the most attractive tourist destinations in the
region is Sunny Beach - the biggest resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Its wide beaches with fine golden sands, calm
and clean sea, pictiresque forests and dunes, warm weather and clean air are combined with a variety of hotels, restaurants,
clubs, and sport facilities, offering unforgettable experiences. If you are either keen on cultural sightseeing or lover of
modern amusements, you will find the region a true paradise for your holiday!
